Our Secret Garden

Designed by the renowned landscape designer Tom Stuart Smith our Kitchen Garden is now complete. With a spring, summer and prairie garden it’s filled with lots of fresh fruits, herbs and vegetables which will be used throughout the estate’s busy kitchens.

Overlooking the garden is the Fig House, the recently restored event space is complete with large Georgian doors and a sandstone terrace (perfect for those all important Reception drinks).

Behind the Fig House is The Boiler House Bar, styled with bottle greens, garden antiques and original church doors it’s here where wedding ceremonies will take place. After the ceremony, wedding guests can celebrate in The Fig House and surrounding gardens. Once the fizz is in full flow guests can dance late into the night, enjoying a British celebration in the unique walled gardens.

The Fig House menus have been inspired by the surrounding seasonal garden, using fresh mint for homemade salsas and the sweetest of British strawberries for the all important summer cheesecakes... delicious!

Oh, and for the drinks, our mixologists have been creating their very own syrups, handcrafting new flavoursome garden infusions. We may have even helped them taste their new creations, all we’re saying is the mango mojito is our new favourite summer cocktail!

Not forgetting, either side of the Fig House are the Potting Shed bedrooms. With the comfiest of beds, pastel coloured baths and fresh scents from the garden, it’s here where we can often be found resting our heads!

The Fig House is available to book for weddings, private events and business functions. Please call 01325 377 977 or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. An update from the Estate

We’re delighted to announce, in light of the latest Government guidance that our Coach House restaurant and hotel will re-open on Thursday 3rd December 2020.

From Thursday the Coach House will be serving up a delicious winter walled garden inspired menu for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Our stretch tent is still in place for alfresco-dining and we have the heaters and mulled wine at the ready. As the restaurant re-opens, we will no longer be offering takeaway orders Monday to Saturday. And on Sundays you can either join us for your Sunday roast or pre-order and collect your lunch to enjoy at home.

Should you have a hotel reservation from December 3rd, your booking will still be in place and we’re looking forward to welcoming you.

As you can imagine, our phone lines are extremely busy at the moment, which is why we thank you for your patience in advance.
