As travel is on hold for a little while, we want to invite you all to bring a little bit of Middleton Lodge Estate into your home so we will be sharing some of the tried and tested tricks from our Middleton Lodge Estate team to recreate a little bit of our North Yorkshire magic wherever you are. Watch this space over the next few weeks to find tips on everything from seasonal planting, fragrant garden cocktails, secret recipes and self-care at home.
In case you’ve forgotten, it’s Easter next weekend and we’ve put together some easy recipes, wine pairings and inspiration for seasonal table settings for you and the family. On Good Friday it is traditional to eat fish so to kick things off we are sharing a favourite from our Executive Head chef Gareth Rayner, a hearty family fish dish you can whip up at home - Smoked Haddock Chowder! Follow the link below for our recipe as you may need to add a few bits to your online shopping list. Thank us later!
We are so lucky that we have the great opportunity of working with some talented local suppliers, unfortunately we have had to postpone our Flower School and ‘A-still Life Art School’ but fear not, Kirsty from 'The Wilde' (our fab host) has some ideas on how you can set your dining room table for the perfect Sunday roast. Kirsty has given us some top tips on how to utilise some seasonal flowers and herbs from your garden…. maybe the kids could help?
How to create 'The Wilde' Easter table
'With flower shops closed and options limited this really is a time to get innovative when styling your Easter table. Let the nature around you provide inspiration and bring a little of the outdoors in. It is amazing what can be found in your own gardens and hedgerows if you really look. Gather any Spring flowers and foliage you are drawn to - hellebores and narcissi are perfect but even bright daffodils can look beautiful when placed in simple vessels. Old stone bottles are a favourite of mine grouped along a table, but even pretty wine glasses, cut glass tumblers or even empty gin bottles can work well.
A simple and impactful way to add Spring to your home is to cut long interesting branches of blossom and place a few in a vase or pot. Instant Spring! I like to place these in windows as they catch the light beautifully. If flowers are limited, style your table with colourful table cloths, napkins and candlesticks to match the flowers you find. Take your time over making beautiful place names and add a fresh flower stem on top of the napkin tofinish the look.'
In preparation for your sunday roast, Chef Gareth has shared his tried and tested roast Leg of lamb recipe - and we have snuck in our traditional Yorkshire pud recipe to really add the finishing touches. A Yorkshire delicacy!
We will be sharing more treats over the next few weeks, if there is anything in particular you would like us to share, please do reach out to us by commenting on our facebook posts.
