Spend a spring morning getting hands-on with clay in this relaxed ceramics workshop led by Victoria Brook, founder of Newcastle-based studio My Giant Hands Made These.
Victoria is known for her sculptural yet functional ceramics, and in this two-hour session she will introduce you to the fundamentals of hand-building. Following a short demonstration, you will design and create one to two mugs, choosing between a pinch-pot style with carved decorative details or a slab-built form. Victoria will be on hand throughout to guide you through each step.
Once complete, your pieces will be taken back to Victoria’s studio to be fired in her kiln. Finished mugs will be ready for collection from the estate approximately three weeks after the workshop, with the option of postage available for an additional fee.
Midway through the morning, our chefs will serve freshly baked scones with hot drinks at around 10.30am. As working with clay can be a little messy, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting hands-on in.
The session begins at 9.30am and finishes at 11.30am. Guests are welcome to book breakfast at the Coach House beforehand, or stay on for lunch afterwards.
A creative and calming way to spend a morning.
