Estate Houses

We all sometimes have that daydream about moving to the countryside, living in a The Holiday-esque cottage, spending afternoons playing Scrabble in front of log fires and foraging in the woodland. Sometimes however all you need is to escape for just the weekend to fulfil this fantasy, and our self-catered cottages are the very definition of idyllic rural living.

We have just opened the doors of Hope House, which is a picture-perfect country cottage. It has space for ten in five beautifully designed bedrooms, and has a country kitchen which is the perfect place for making memories with families and friends.

Hope House set in the heart of the neighbouring village Middleton Tyas, which is a short stroll away from a village shop and a country pub, but also close to everything our enchanting Estate has to offer.

Whereas the Farmhouse, the other self-catered cottage, is set on the estate grounds. It has a wonderful open plan kitchen and living area to gather around and dreamy roll top baths for long, luxurious soaks.

When staying in our cottages you can also spoil yourself at the Treatment Rooms with a head to toe scrub or restorative massage.

You can also borrow some Barbour wellingtons and explore beyond our Estate. Nestled in North Yorkshire, we’re near to the local market town Richmond, which is home to one of the best-preserved Norman castles in the country. One of our favourite walks is to wander down the old railway line along the river Swale to Easby Abbey. You also can’t beat a walk or a cycle through the rolling Yorkshire dales, and we can help you plan a route with magnificent views. Antique lovers will enjoy rummaging through the lovely shops in Leyburn or visiting the auctions at Tennants. When staying in our cottages you can also book an hour or two at the Treatment Rooms, choose between a head-to-toe scrub or restorative massage.
