Festive Afternoon Tea at Middleton Lodge Estate
After the first snowfall here in Yorkshire, we’re starting to deck the halls and getting into full Christmas mode. We’re excited to share that our Coach House restaurant has created a delicious Christmas-inspired afternoon tea. Available from 29 November and throughout December, it’s inspired by the estate at this time of year.
Our head chef, Ross Forder, has crafted an afternoon tea that brings together the rich flavours of Christmas and the produce we have growing here. Served in the Coach House restaurant, this is a dreamy treat for a December afternoon.
Think homemade sandwiches with fresh fillings such as ‘hot smoked Chalk Stream trout with crème fraîche and dill’, ‘curried Good Fella egg with chives’, ‘cucumber with Yellison goats curd’, and, of course, the Christmas classic, ‘Yorkshire turkey with cranberry and chestnut’.
This is followed by freshly baked scones that are soft, warm and made to be enjoyed. Ross has created a classic soaked fruit scone with clotted cream and estate jam, and for something a little different, our Dale End scruffy cheese scone with truffle Yorkshire mascarpone.
For us, the best part about afternoon tea are the delicious desserts. Try the garden quince and whisky trifle, a nod to our estate’s produce, while the greenhouse ginger parkin with estate honey cream is a spiced winter treat. We’ve also got a gin-soaked blackberry tart and Manjari chocolate choux with prune gel. Just scrumptious!
We have handpicked a range of teas to go alongside your afternoon tea, such as Tregothnan English teal Afternoon, Green, Earl Grey, Rose, Red Berry and Assam Decaf. We also have our very own Middleton Lodge estate teas: fig leaf, greenhouse ginger or corn silk.
Make this December delicious with a real treat and savour our afternoon tea at the Coach House. While you’re here, be sure to pop over to the Coach House shop, which is filled with beautiful, handpicked Christmas gifts.
Available from 29 November, pre-bookings are essential.
