January on the Estate
This month is a time where we focus on routine, wellness and introducing a sense of calm and energy into our everyday. It’s the first January that our Forest Spa has been open, so you can connect to nature and really reawaken your mind and body. It’s a place you can nourish your mind and body, relax and restore, and find a new sense of calm.
It’s also a time to layer up (yes, some days that’s a hat, scarf and gloves too!), and get outside for a brisk walk in the woodland, taking in the crisp views and the fresh air. It’s a time to gain some perspective and enjoy the peace of the estate parkland. If you’re staying over, you can ask to borrow wellingtons at reception; if you’re popping in for a bite to eat and some coffee at the Coach House, just ask for a map of the woodland walk and take a stroll.
Talking of food, January at the Coach House is a great place to meet up. Ross Forder (head chef here) makes sure there are some well-balanced new dishes and drinks on the menus so you can tuck into ‘estate-to-plate’ dishes that are fresh and nourishing.
Our estate-to-plate ethos means that each course, where possible, is inspired or created using seasonal ingredients grown here. There’s plenty from the garden, land or sea, all delicious and packed with feel-good flavours. Where produce cannot be grown onsite, it’s supplied locally by passionate farmers and producers to ensure we have low-food miles, and that the ingredients are fresh to ensure dishes are rich in flavour and texture. It’s something that means a lot to us and you’ll see this in each course on the menu.
We find there’s a joy here in January, so plan a day at the spa, a night away, or meet friends to enjoy some delicious food together – and beat away any blues…
PS: There’s a long list of the most delicious mocktails at the Coach House that you really must try!
